If you can get the darn thing on your wall it is great. Looking at the instructions makes this installation much harder than if you lay out the pieces and just figure it out - they make no sense and will really confuse you. If you want it installed really well you will need to go out and get a few nuts to secure the screws that hold the lamp to the plate. I was to lazy, but I know I will have to fix it as I use the swing arm because the outer plate will eventually part from the wall mounted plate. The swing arm is very stiff, but I caould probably oil it.Here is what I did: 1. feed smaller (non wood) screw through the mounting plate just enough that they will not touch the wall when the plate is screwed into the wall. 2. Mounted the plate to the wall - I just used my own sheet rock screws with the mounting pieces for sheet rock(drill and insert into wall). Put the lamp onto the screws and put the nuts on. Wire fed tubes(was not easy) and get the plug on (can't help you with the plug as I don't have that part right). Good luck.
