I bought two of these shades to replace curtains in the bedroom. They look really nice, and I love how easy it is to raise/lower the shades just by grasping the bottom of the shade and pulling down or lifting. Since I have a young child, I'm happy not to have to worry about keeping a cord safely out of reach. I also really like that it has a thin fabric lining in the back - helps with privacy, and does help to darken a bit as well (though some light still comes through). I have other bamboo shades in the rest of the house that do not have the liner, and they can be very see-through. There is a wood frame piece that is glued to the bottom of the shade, and this is what gives the bottom of the shade structure and helps the shade to easily go up or down. The one problem we had was that with the wider shade, it arrived with the wooden frame piece separated from the blinds. Took a while to figure out what to do with it, since the instructions didn't address attaching it - and then I realized that it had come unglued from the shade itself, and wasn't supposed to be loose. It was an easy fix - used hot glue to reattach. Since this didn't end up being a real problem for us, I didn't deduct a star for that. The other blind was intact, with no problems.
