My husband likes a firm mattress. I prefer mine with a little more give. This bed has been the perfect compromise. While the base mattress is solid, the pillow top provides that fluffy, soft feel -- and we both get what we need from the mattress. On a side note, after having shunned the bed for months in favor of carpeted cement floor (which should tell you how bad our mattress was), our older, 10+ year old lab mix now spends his days happily planted on our bed!
