poor quality memory foam
from Richmond, VA,  Sep 27, 2008

We got this mattress while my wife was pregnant. I hated our too soft mattress. I used to have an off market memory foam mattress and was excited about getting another. I let the mattress "open up" for quite a few days before changing out the mattresses. No problem there. It was comfortable enough after laying on it. Seemed a bit softer than I thought it should, especially after reviews saying it is firm. The first morning waking up my hands were completely numb. I didnt say anything to my wife of course, who loved the old mattress. We used it for a month until my wife started to complain about how this pregnancy was giving her numb fingers and hands. She couldnt grip anything. I had gotten a bit used to waking up numb by then and I told her it may be the mattress. We debated on switching back to the old one for the rest of the pregnancy. After the show at the hospital, I did finally get a friend to help me change back to the other one. She started getting feeling back over the next week. Now she seems pretty much over the carpal tunnel now, and we are going to try it again just to see what happens. I was looking more closely at the mattress and I cant imagine that this is a 5lb memory foam on top. It feels more like the soft 4lb stuff -too soft to make a firm mattress of. So my recommendations? If you like firm, look at some of the others on this site where the reviews are saying "very firm". This one is pretty soft. I'd rather take the memory foam off and just sleep on the latex bottom.
