This scope is a disappointment. Looks fine indoors with low light, outside, the dot washes out and is very hard to see. Speaking with friends who are more knowledgeable about these things I've found that this is to be expected with the less expensive dot scopes. (Though I do have one that works just fine.) It's not broken, it's just the way these units are. I would not recommend this to anyone.
