The common wisdom with respect to LCD TVs has often been that bigger is always better and that you'll get higher quality for a higher price -- but cheap LCD TVs may be the best option for your money in certain situations. Here are some of the best reasons to buy a cheap LCD TV rather than going for the top-of-the-line model.
Your cheap LCD TV can take punishment. Not every television needs to be the center of a home theater system. You can afford to treat a cheap LCD TV with a little less care, making it perfect for the garage or the kitchen, where it might be exposed to moisture, heat and scratches.
Smaller and cheaper TVs are more portable. Take a small, cheap LCD TV and install it in your RV, boat or summer house. You won't be using it that often, so a cheap TV makes more sense for bringing entertainment to those locations. Plus, smaller LCD screens use less energy than their widescreen counterparts.
Cheap TVs are great for students. A dorm room can be a dangerous place for an LCD TV, so it may be best not to pick out a premium HDTV for your student. A compact, inexpensive LCD TV is better suited to that limited space. And after graduation, your student may want to upgrade to a bigger, higher-quality television.
The kids don't need a big television. For video games and your kids' favorite videos, a cheap LCD TV works just fine. Get one of the smaller cheap LCD TVs for the children's room. They'll get their own little entertainment center, and you'll save a lot of money compared to a larger model.
Even cheap LCD TVs have a superior picture. A cheap LCD TV screen is still worlds better than your old tube TV. Any HDTV will give you a high-definition picture and superior entertainment quality. You can enjoy Blu-ray movies, HD television content and the latest video game consoles in stunning detail with even a cheap LCD TV and limited features.
