Karaoke machine with a built-in screen

Spice up your next party with a karaoke machine. Kids and adults all love trying their skill at singing their favorite songs, and a simple karaoke system can work anywhere. Karaoke has a way of getting even the shyest person out of their shell and having a good time. Here are five great karaoke games that you can play with basic karaoke equipment and are sure to make your next party a raging success.

Fun Karaoke Games:

  1. Karaoke tournament: This one is great for large gatherings and parties. Set up a regular tournament bracket and have a number of partiers sign up to sing a selected karaoke tune from your available song list. Select an odd number of karaoke judges to judge each performance, scoring participants on singing ability, stage presence and crowd response. Whoever scores higher moves on in the tournament, and the winner gets a prize at the end of the night.

  2. "Gong" karaoke: You don't want anybody to get their feelings hurt, so this game isn't ideal for kids' karaoke parties. The idea is to have a panel of judges listen to the karaoke singers. When the singing gets too bad, have the judges ring a bell and cut the music to get the next singer onto the stage. The key is to pick good-natured judges who will let bad singers keep going a little while as long as they have good crowd support.

  3. Karaoke roulette: Have guests who want to sing write their names on pieces of paper and put them in a bowl. Run through a playlist of karaoke songs and select the name of the singer at random. This works well, especially since it increases the variety of songs played, which can otherwise just be the same songs over and over.

  4. Mystery karaoke: Write down songs on pieces of paper and put them in a bowl. You can color-code different song genres with different colors of paper so singers can pick a genre, but they won't know the song. This allows the karaoke DJ to select a wider variety of songs and can produce some fun results.

  5. Regular karaoke: Sometimes it's best just to let your guests make their own fun. Who knows? You may have some budding superstars at your next party who will rock the house with their favorite song!
