LCD displays in digital photo frames allow you to enjoy your favorite photos. But did you know that you can use your digital picture frame as an e-reader for electronic books? While they don't have as much functionality as an actual e-reader, digital photo frames can display e-books on an easy-to-read, hand-held screen, which is the main point of e-readers. Below are a few steps to guide you through converting your digital frame into a portable digital library.
Download an e-book to your computer. E-book files come in a wide number of formats. The most common e-book files are in PDF, text and HTML format. Before you download, check to see which type of files that your digital photo frame can display.
Connect your digital photo frame to the computer. Most digital photo frames feature a USB connection port. The connector cable may even be included with your photo frame.
Connect one end of the cable to the port on your digital photo frame and the other end to a USB port on your computer. Check the instruction manual for your digital photo frame for more specific instructions.
Your computer may automatically detect and open the digital photo frame when you connect it. If not, you may need to search your computer's drive directory for the frame, which may be labeled as an external drive or storage device.
Move the e-book files to the digital frame. Open the folder on your computer where the e-book files are stored. You can copy and paste, or drag and drop, the files into the digital photo frame's folder. The files should then be saved on your digital frame.
Disconnect the frame and open an e-book file. Disconnect the digital photo frame from your computer and search through the menus to find the e-book files. Check your digital photo frame's user manual for instructions on how to navigate the menus. Find and open an e-book file and you're ready to start reading.
You can also transfer e-books to your digital photo frame from a memory card. E-books usually take up less than one megabyte of memory, not including photos.
