You can print your digital photos with or without a computer. If you don't want to bother with turning on your computer or navigating one or more computer programs to print photos, you can simply connect your digital camera directly to a digital photo printer. All you will need is a digital photo printer with the proper features. Follow the steps below to print photos with just a photo printer -- no computer required.

Printing Digital Photos:

  1. Choose a digital photo printer that suits your needs. Many photo printers are available, and they all have different features. Size, color type and photo quality are some of the features to consider.

  2. Choose a photo printer that is compatible with your camera. Typically, your digital camera will use either a USB connector cable or a memory card to transfer digital photo data to a computer or photo printer. Make sure the digital photo printer has the right memory card slots or USB ports to match your camera.

  3. Choose the right paper and ink. Your user's manual is the best place to find out what type of paper and ink you need. Though you have many ink and paper options, digital photo printers often use certain types of supplies, and using different types can affect the quality of your digital photos.

  4. To find out how to set up your digital photo printer, be sure to read your user manual, thoroughly. If you follow the instructions closely, you will run into fewer problems later on.

  5. Connect your camera. If the photo printer has a USB connection port, you can connect the camera via USB cable. Some photo printers will have memory card slots instead. To transfer your photo data from a memory card, remove the card from your camera insert it into the proper slot on the printer. If you're unsure of which options are available to you, consult your camera's user manual.

  6. Select the photo or photos you want to print and instert the correct printer paper. Each photo printer is a little different, but most will have a screen with a digital display that will walk you through the printing process. You can choose the photo size, color options and additional photo features.

  7. Set the printing options for the photos you have selected. Your options will differ depending on the kind of digital photo printer you choose. You may be able to adjust the size, resolution or even the color in which your digital photos will be printed. Digital photo printers are constantly improving, and manufacturers are building in new options all the time.

  8. Start printing. Depending on the model, this might be done with a button or on a screen. You can select the number of copies you would like to print at one time.
