When you are on-the-go, nothing is better than a stylish, functional travel bag. While bulkier bags could slow you down, a travel bag makes traveling a cinch. Depending on how light you like to travel, travel bags come in a variety of shapes and sizes to accommodate any traveler. Whether you want a leather travel bag or travel bags in nearly any other fabric, you shouldn't have much trouble finding what you want. However, no matter what kind of travel bag you prefer, there are a few things you should always bring along. Here are some ideas for useful items to always keep in your travel bag.
Snacks: Whether you are stranded during a long layover or just waiting in traffic, you'll be happy you brought a few snacks to nibble on in your tote bag. Place some baby carrots or celery in a sealable plastic bag and slip them into a pocket in your travel bag. They won't take up much space, and you can help fight off hunger during unexpected delays or between meals.
Reading material: Travel bags are perfect to take on long trips or just to grab when you're in a hurry. If you are reading a book, slip it inside your shoulder bag so you can catch a few chapters in your spare time. When you get busy, it's hard to find time to sit down and read. If you keep some reading in your travel bag at all times, you'll be surprised how much reading you'll get done.
Water bottle: Whether you're waiting for your flight, driving in the car or walking out and about, you'll be glad you have a refillable supply of water in your travel bag. Many travel bags even come with a dedicated pocket for water bottles and other beverages. Some airlines will only allow very small amounts of liquid. Still, you can refill a water bottle very cheaply, so you can poor it out if you aren't allowed to take the water on a plane.
Lip balm: Don't get trapped for a long period of time with chapped lips. Always keep a dedicated tube of lip balm in your travel bag. You might forget it's there, but when you need it, you will feel extra smart for your foresight. Never take it out unless using it and always put it back in immediately. If you keep it permanently in your travel bag, you won't lose it and you'll always have it when you need it.
Notepad and pen: In your travels, chances are you will need to write down an address, phone number or directions. Always keep a small notepad and a reliable pen in your travel bag so you won't have to scramble when the moment arrives.
