cancellation Policy

I would like to express my discontent with your cancellation policy. I attempted to cancel an item 8 HOURS after I ordered it, and was informed I could not cancel it, I would have to wait for the item(s) to arrive and go through the return process. This is 2 pieces of furniture!! So, in essence, I wait the 1-4 weeks for delivery of the item ordered, THEN i get to go through the return process, then I PAY for shipping, and my account gets credited 4-8 weeks after that. ????????? Are you serious??? I talked onlive with a service rep, and although she was kind, bottom line was t"that is our policy"Customer service wise?? This is SO NOT ACCEPTABLE> and i will no longer order anything from this site. I even asked wht would happen if I just wanted to switch the item to a different item from your company/site. I would STILL have to recieve, return, order, receive. a total of about 4 months.!!! This whole order could have been cancelled, I do not beleive for one minute it was on a truck 8 hours later. I am upset, disgruntled, and pist.

I just went through the same terrible cancellation experience and I am deeply disappointed. The customer service does not show any care for the customers. I submitted my order last night (two large pieces of furniture), and this morning realized that I ordered the wrong size. It seems common sense to cancel/change the order while it's still processing, rather than get it shipped, return it, order a new one, and wait to have it shipped again. Now it's not only my family who will think twice before ordering anything from Overstock, but also our friends whom we warned. This cancellation policy is not fair nor acceptable and is not gaining Overstock.com new clients for sure. I am very displeased with the (lack of) service I am receiving.

Im so sorry to hear about your experience, we would be happy to look into your situation and see what can be done. Unforutnately by trying to process our orders so quickly it can be difficult to cancel the order before it has been loaded on the truck for shipment.

I wish I would have read this before ordering from this company. This is the most rediculous policy I have ever heard of. I ordered my product less than 24 hrs ago. The email I got says it will not be shipped for over another week, yet when i chatted with a representative they said it could not be cancelled. Why? why is it so impossible from stopping an item from being shipped that hasnt been shipped yet...and wont be for days. It would be different if it were wrapped up, stamped witha tracking number and just waiting on a truck to come pick it up. that I could understand. But this thing hasn't even been picked off the shelves yet. My chat rep claims to have sent a email to the warehouse stopping the order but when i asked for her info to be able to contact her again convientently the chat must of had issues cause she wasnt answering me questions and just wrote "since i have received a response I am going to disconnect" meanwhile i was responding the whole time asking for her info!

I called one HOUR after ordering...it was at 10pm at night and I simply wanted to change the order!!! I ordered king size quilt for my grown daughter...then sent her the order email. My daughter tells me I ordered wrong thing. I get on CHAT with customer service and she says I cant cancel. ..order has been processed. Seriously????????? You have a computer system that is so outdated you cant cancel an order that was placed an hour earlier???? Its been processed I was told. SO WHAT! It wasnt shipped!!! It was Sunday night at 10 pm!!! I asked for a credit.. "No, We Cant Do That..."...Then, I asked to simply change order to what my daughter wanted instead. "NO" again..You MUST receive item and return it at your cost! BUT we will give you a 10% discount off of your next order. Excuse me OVERSTOCK..this is NOT good business practices and few people will REORDER from a company that has a system that cant cancel or change an order within a certain time frame! At some point OVERSTOCK you will have run through all your NEW and unsuspecting customers and your repeat customers will make a mistake in their order and will get this RESPONSE...and one by one you will ruin your entire business. In my opinion this means YOU dont care...you are simply in business to make a lot of money FAST and you have no intention of forming ANY repeat customers!
