What is the difference between a LCD TV and a LED TV? Is it better to buy a VCR player separate rather than included with the TV?

Thank you for your post jimbo70! An LCD screen is made up of Liquid Crystal, which runs cooler and is more energy efficient than a Plasma TV. It uses bulbs behind the screen to light the picture. An LED screen is made up of Light Emitting Diodes, which run even cooler and more energy efficiently than the LCD. Because LEDs produce their own light, these TVs are thinner as they don't need a back bulb, and their contrast is way higher than an LCD or Plasma TV. As for a VCR/DVD player, you are better to buy these separately, as they can be difficult and costly to repair when combined with a TV. Let me know if you have any further questions!

sorry to say but you are wrong. Whats the differance between a LED and LCD TV Both screens display via LCD display. The only differance is the back lighting. A standard LCd uses cool ray tubes along the top sides and sometimes bottoms to backlight the screen. Were LED uses LED lighting of upt to 3 differant types. Becareful when selecting a LED TV. Some still use LED to only light the edges of the screen. Thoug these are miles better than cathoide back lighting they still are not as good zoned ones. The cheaper ones are oftern edge lit. Another error in the previous post is that LCD is always more efficient than plasma. This use to be true, but now new plasma are close or even better. Basic breakdown. 1/ Plasma - uses no backlight, tougher TVs(hard glass surface less likely to break from small children), weigh more than LCD. Slightly thicker than LED. Comes in limited sizes, 2. Standard LCD- Back lit with tubes that can fail over time depending on quality, nearly unlimited sizes, decent contrast. 3. LED LCD - Thinnest TV by about 1/4 inch, all benefits of standard LCD, No tube back light, better contrats than standard LCD, and sometimes rivals plasma screens. also, some TV come nearly edgless when it comes to caseing.
