I've bought 2 refurbished macs iBook G4's from Overstock [sequentially]. They came with the Mac OS X operating system only and Safari Browser. Included: Text Edit, iCal, iChat, iTunes, Preview, Network Utility, Chess game, Automator, calculator, DVD Player, 'spaces', 'Time Machine' [backup program], 'Front Row', 'Exposé', and an email program. These are the ones I remember. No WP programs, office suites, etc... The OS was an older one, and had to be updated via online download, free. Then I downloaded my favorite browser and WP programs, in addition to loading everything from my old hard drive. If you want Word, you have to pay for it, but you can download for FREE the "NeoOffice" wp programs, which include a spreadsheet etc... and will open Word docs.

Only trial software packages are included if any. However, there are two versions of fantastic office suites available which are FREE and 100% supported by a major software company. They have versions for Windows, Apple, and Linus OS's. The software is also compatible to read and write MS Office files. They are OpenOffice (openoffice.org) and LibreOffice (libreoffice.org). You should also download Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird for your browser and Email/calendars. The best kept secrets on the web!

Your "refurbished" prices are ridiculously high on EVERYthing, especially with little to NO guarantee!! And your "regular" prices are worse compared to just about everyplace else that I've looked...why would ANYone shop here?

Buyer beware - overstock does not always ship what you buy. I bought a refurbished Lenovo laptop that was supposed to have Windows 7 Home O/S and a 160 GB hard drive. It arrived with Windows XP and would not start. I called for a return and they agreed to replace it. They replaced it with another Windows XP machine with a smaller 60 GB hard drive (but a better processor) than what I wanted. A that point I had to keep it because it was needed for a business trip. I'll never buy electronics from Overstock again. Seems obvious to me they are using a bait and switch approach and counting on people like me to give up on the exchange process.
