Story Behind the Art:
Desak Nyoman Parwati was born in Bali and learned to batik in the late 1980s. 'Working with her taught me many things about textiles and hand-painting batik. I like her dedication to her work and her concern for the people working with her. In 2000, I started my own shop, creating dresses with hand-painted batik textiles. I get the inspiration from fashion magazines, taking designs I like and adapting them to Indonesian culture. I work with rayon, cotton, linen and crinkle cloth using sulfur and remasol colors. I have built my career step by step. I started by asking my neighbors to come to my place to look at my collection and place orders if they like it. Now, there's so much to do I need the help of several assistants.'

This robe is so comfortable with the wide sleeves and the adjustability with the belt. I have worn this very much since I purchased it. I never dreamed it would come in so handy. It washes well, and I let it dry on a hanger, as suggested. I love the colors and the soothing water pattern. It is perfect for any time of day, and since it doesn't have the look that it is for use with pajamas or nightgown, I can even go down and get my mail while wearing it, or use it as a cover to my swimsuit.
