Story Behind the Product:
Founded in 1990 by a multinational group of young entrepreneurs, Caribbean Craft (formerly known as Drexco) promotes employment in Haiti by training unskilled but often highly gifted craftspeople and by assisting the independent artisans through the introduction of new designs and new market outlets. Unemployment in Haiti, the poorest country of the American hemisphere, is variously estimated at between 60 and 80-percent.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

This truly is a beautiful work of art- very detailed, too. I especially love the detailing on the birds. Everyone who has seen it has loved it, in fact, one friend even requested this for Christmas after admiring it on my wall. I am glad that artisans in Haiti are able to practice their craft and make a living through these fair trade programs while we get to enjoy their wonderful artwork!
Perfect for over the bed (dark chocolate leather from Overstock!) in our guest room. We have already gotten compliments and it also feels good to know we are helping people in need! It is lightweight and definitely not the silvery color in the picture - more bronze/brown. Great choice!
