Jaipur is considered one of the biggest gem cutting centers in the world, and almost all of the goods are produced by talented artisans working in their homes, allowing them to stay in their villages without being forced to migrate to urban centers in search of scarce factory work. Traditional handcrafted arts and techniques are kept alive, and as the artisans' talents are in demand, they receive better wages than the average worker. Helping people earn a decent living where none would otherwise be available is something to be proud of and a lesson to teach future generations.

I purchased these earrings as a gift for a friend. They arrived on time, in a nice box, and looked nice. As often happens with an item of this sort, one of the pearls was much prettier than the other. The less attractive one almost looked like it had a small crack or line in it, but not bad enough to deal with sending them back and getting new ones. My friend really loved them. I think they are comparable to what I could have found at a department store, and probably could have gotten something better on sale, but these were very convenient and I didn't have time to shop. I rarely give 5-star reviews, so for me three stars isn't bad. They are nice earrings and an average value.
