These jewelry artisans work in a rich gem-trading environment with well-established traditions. In Chantaburi, a long tradition of gem trading and polishing, there are thousands of mom-and-pop factories with people working for hours polishing and finishing their crafts. The artisans have very rough, coal-fired backyard barbecue ovens made out of inexpensive materials to process their gems. The cottages that do the actual polishing have men and women sitting at polishing wheels for hours and hours, churning out their beautiful jewelry pieces.

I received these today to give as a gift and was disappointed and pleasantly surprised. I was disappointed that, as others have stated, the stones are amber on the top and bottom instead of the garnet pictured. But, pleasantly surprised that the craftsmanship is much better than what is pictured. The metal around the settings is smooth and solid and more uniform than pictured. The stones are more uniformly sized than the picture as well. These are substantial earrings both in length and weight. If you expect the stones for the top and bottom to be the yellow amber, then I would recommend these.

Nice looking earrings, but in the photo it appears as though each stone is a different color: red, brown and amber. In fact, both the top and bottom are amber and the middle stone is brown. Not exactly what I was hoping for.

They are bigger then what they look in the picture...............this is not a bad thing. I get a lot of complements. They are awesome!! The stem is wider then most.
