Handcrafted by a team of artisans in Rajastan, India these unique treasures begin with a wooden base which is handcrafted by the men of the workshop into the perfect shape. They are then covered in heated lacquer into which glass beads and small mirror decorations are inserted by hand. Women do the fine detail work. The inspiration is Diwali, the Festival of Lights, a Hindu celebration of the New Year. It signifies new beginnings. Lacquer handicrafts are typically made by subsistence farmers in the off season for extra household income.
The set of 6 is exactly as shown in the first picture and includes a gold mirror with a gold pouch, a black mirror with a black pouch, a turquoise mirror and turquoise pouch, a silver mirror and hot pink pouch, a purple mirror with purple pouch, and a red mirror with a red pouch.

These mirrors are an exceptional value. The workmanship is quite nice, and the few imperfections are simply due to the fact that they are handmade, which only adds to their charm. They make perfect gifts, but I guarantee you'll be wanting to keep one for yourself! I highly recommend these mirrors.

These are beautiful little mirrors. Quite tiny and therefore more to be admired than actually useful. BUT.... they make perfect little "no-special-occasion friendship gifts" and I've given several of them to woman friends who "Oohed!" and "Aahed" and were absolutely delighted with them. The only (very minor) shortcoming is that the quality of the little satin pouch in which the mirrors come is poor, but that is more than made up for by the pretty little mirrors themselves. I went back into on-line Overstock Worldstock to order more and found that they are currently unvailable. I plan to order more when they are back in stock. I want to have supply on hand to give to others of my friends as the occasion arises.
I bought these very mirrors elsewhere years ago. I gave all but one mirror away. I used the one I had every day for years. Then today, I lost it. I was so sad and looked almost everywhere, backtracking my way into public restrooms and all. But no luck finding it. I am still hoping it will show up, but just in case it does not, I wanted to buy another one and so I searched all over the internet and finally found it here on Overstock. I was so happy when I saw the picture of these beautiful mirrors here on overstock and realized I had tracked them down and will once have these beautiful mirrors. Actually, I ordered two sets, just in case I lose my mirror again, and so that I can share some of them with my best friends. I will call them our friendship mirrors! They are really unique and just so pretty. The inlay on the back is not perfect, but that makes it all the more charming. They are handmade, so slight imperfections are to be expected. I highly recommend these mirrors to every gal out there! Just get them! You will be glad you did! I am so thrilled I tracked them down again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These mirrors were surprisingly nice for the price. These will make excellent casual impromptu gift. In fact, I'm planning to buy another set to give away as simple high school graduation & teachers' gifts.
