Story Behind the Art

Puspasari and her husband wish to preserve a particular aspect of Balinese culture, and so dedicate themselves to the weaving of baskets. The Balinese are renowned for their beautiful baskets, which have become an essential part of everyday living, including religious life. In Puspasari's village, the men make various kinds of bamboo furniture while the women weave palm leaf baskets in a masterful display of talent and creativity.
