Story Behind the Art:

Indah and Indra are a husband and wife team from Java, Indonesia. Indah says, 'We have always worked as a team, starting with batik on textiles. Eventually we transferred traditional batik printing techniques on wood, a rare and unique art form. We work at our own family workshop assisted by several artists, since wood batik requires careful detail. It can take nine days to complete a small mirror. Our family is our main source of encouragement, and we work hard, keeping the spirit of our family unity. Indra focuses on the designs, while I look after the administrative side. We have been working as a team since 1994.'
