Story Behind the Art:
In Northern Viet Nam, Hong Anh Pham and a small group of artisans have been perfecting bamboo tabletop items for many years. Each piece is handcrafted using flattened strips of bamboo and then the inside is coated with seven layers of food safe lacquer, requiring nearly 60 days to make.
Besides its beauty, there are many reasons to use bamboo. Bamboo is a truly remarkable renewable resource. It is not a wood, but actually a species of grass and offers vital economic and ecological benefits to the lives of millions of people worldwide.
We ensure that the crafts makers are paid fairly and work in safe conditions. The purchase of this product will help artisans provide food and shelter to their communities as well as generate money to put their children through school.

Fast shipping and very cute! I got these for a friend of mine's birthday and she was very pleased. The chop sticks were very cute and set into the bowls nicely. I would reccomend these.
These bowls are such fun to entertain with and they draw compliments whenever I use them which is often. They are naturally beautiful and resilient and thus can be used for either hot or cold foods. The food safe lacquer adds a modern touch of gloss and color which serves to enhance the design of the bowl. I love the idea that each bowl comes with chopsticks that fit neatly through the clever slots. It is certainly a great find!!
