This hand-crafted item and many others come from a third generation family run factory in mainland China. Their skills of hand-painting, hand-rubbed lacquering, and hand-tooling have been passed down for many generations. We are proud to support them in their quest to keep their age-old techniques alive for future generations. Many of the artists are hired out of semi-retirement to work from home training the next generation to become master craftsmen. These masters are highly respected in their craft and their culture which have survived through many Chinese dynasties and continue to produce valuable and desirable pieces for your home decor.

This room divider is the perfect solution to my problem of keeping kittens out of the living room. It is extra long (4 panels instead of the usual 3), goes all the way to the floor, is wood framed and strong. It also has a bamboo surface rather than cloth or rice paper -- difficult for little claws to climb. It is well constructed and very nice looking. Because of the bamboo panels, you can see through to the room beyond, and it lets the light in. So, there is no blocking effect. There are several finishes to choose from. For the price (very reasonable) I was surprised to see that the quality was perfectly acceptable. I was going to use this panel for just a very short time. Just long enough to allow me to find a better quality barrier. However, it looks so nice in that space, that I haven't bothered to look for something else. It folds back easily, so when we have company, I can open up the entry completely, and the panel acts as a frame. It's very attractive, and in our mid-century modern home, very era appropriate. I would recommend it.
