This is handmade in La Paz Centro by Dona Mercedez. She is well known in this small town and has been making traditional pottery since she was a young girl. She and her sisters like most girls from La Paz Centro started young making comales and other utilitarian vessels to bring in money for the family. About 20 years ago she began working with Potters for Peace and over time she saved enough money to build herself a small workshop, experimented with local clay colors and developed a distinct style all her own
