Vikas Baid was born and brought up in the Kolkota, west Bengal in India. He joined his Father's garment business as designer at very young age. He was very influenced by the rich heritage of arts and crafts in Rajasthan. This gave him opportunity to come in contact with the various artisans from the rajasthan and he started learning this art. After completing his graduation in commerce, Vikas took initiative to take this art to the world and started selling these items in exhibitions. These jewelry boxes are used in India in every home since very old time as chest to keep the jewelry. Jewelry is family asset in India and every woman has her own personal bridal jewelry sets. These jewelry is worn by every married women in the festivals, marriages, community functions and on auspicious occasions.

I was disappointed in this box. The latch was off center, the jewels design left a lot to be disired. The box I received was not near as pretty as the picture shown.

My daughter LOVES her new rosewood jewelry box. I was very pleased with the craftsmanship and detail on the box. The inside is not sanded down to a smooth finish, if you are looking for that, but is fairly smooth and fits our needs perfectly. We were all impressed with the metal work on the box lid. It really is beautiful.
