I gave this box to my sister for Christmas and she loved it. She especially liked the detail work. The box is well constructed and I would recomend it to anyone looking for that unusual gift or as a gift to themself.

I agree with the other reviewers that the workmanship is beautiful.My box however, warped in just a few hours. Now the box won't close without something heavy weighing on top. The funny thing is my bedroom (where I kept the box) is very cold - I can't understand why the box warped.The way in which the box was shipped to me was also very poor. The box was just thrown in a much larger corrugated box, without padding - luckily the box was undamaged when it got to me.The box is beautiful - just a terrible shame that it's warped.

This box was a piece of junk! There was a quarter inch gap where the lid would not fully close, and the hindges were so out of alignment that the wood rubbed together making a horrific noise. I had this box in my possesion for less than an hour before I had it boxed and ready to be returned!

I bought the box for a gift that was very well received. It did have some sawdust that I wiped off and I added a piece of velvet inside. I was very pleased overall and think that it was well done!

The box took longer than I thought it would to ship, but it was worth the wait. It arrived in impecable condition and looked amazing. it was slightly smaller than i thought it would be, but perfect for what i wanted to use it for.

The box, while attractive, arrived with a very bad odor that seemed to be impossible to remove. I even washed it with a degreasing dish soap. This only served to remove some of the oily finish. I then applied a coat of polyurethane to give it a new finish. This worked well and the box looks very nice now and no longer smells.

Beautiful in every way! Definitely a great buy. It was a give to my employer and she loved it! Craftmanship was magnificent...not too big nor too small. The size was just right.

Absolutely beautiful! I bought this for my mom as a christmas gift and made an insert for it to be used as a jewlery box...my mom LOVED it, and now I have to order another for myself because I'm jealous!

This is a fairly labor-intensive hand-carved box. Since I have done a little bit of wood carving myself, I know that a fair amount of work went into it. While there were (mostly unnoticeable except to an artisan's or appraisal person's eyes) bits not fully carved out, I would not expect every detail to be taken care of given how little we are paying for it. The artist himself likely is only getting a small portion of what we are paying for it. For the amount we pay, this is a luxurious and lovely item to get. I gave this jewelry box to my mother as part of her holiday gift.

I was very pleased with the box, as it was the size I expected, an looked exactly as pictured. It came wrapped well, and you could tell that it had been thoroughly oiled so that it wouldn't dry out and crack in transit. I would've rated it higher overall, except the workmanship could have been a little bit better, as there was a tiny gap in one or the corner joints and the lid didn't sit completely flush (not crooked or anything, it just left a small gap all the way around). These weren't really so bad as to make me not give it as a gift, for a hand-made item it's still a very good quality and value. It's the perfect size to hold my TV and DVD remotes, so now I'm thinking of getting one for myself for that purpose.

Can't beat this for the price. It's actually done so well, that its hard to believe its hand carved. Great gift, good for display, jewelery, etc...Can't beat it for the price I paid.
