    Story Behind the Art

Baluch rugs are tribal hand-woven rugs made in the southern part of Iran by nomadic Baluch tribes. A lot of Baluch rugs also come out of Iran's vast province of Khorassan which is just to the north. The Baluch people weave these rugs mainly to express themselves and follow an ancient Persian tradition, which dates back thousands of years. Colors of Baluch rugs are usually predominantly a rich burgundy with some very dark navy blue and accents of ivory. They frequently have either an overall pattern, or a prayer rug design. Any Baluch Persian rug is one of a kind and has absolutely no duplicates anywhere in the world.

The rug is exactly as described. I appreciate the fact that it was made in Iran. I have several persian rugs and I was surprised to find a rug this nice at such a low price. The rug features the "tree of life." I've always thought of these designs as prayer rugs. It has some nice design features if you want to be a scholar and do a little research.

excellent purchase

this is the second rug I ordered from Overstock, both have exceeded my expectations. This rug is absolutely gorgeous, a true work of art. I have looked at similar rugs at department stores and rug shops and the prices were hundreds of dollars more!!! I love that Overstock posts reviews....even if unfavorable. It has really helped me make my decisions. Similar websites do not offer customer feedback. I also like how they give a description of the tribes and the areas the rugs come from when it applies. I will definitely order again!!!
