The wood used by the Peruvian Artisans from Lima is between 100 and 150 years old. Wood of this age is specifically chosen for its distinctive pattern. The difficulty of finding suitable wood to craft means high quality aged olive wood products are not widely available and are truly unique and one of a kind. An olive wood serving knife is included.
The Story Behind The Product
Franco & his son live in an economically underdeveloped neighborhood in Lima, Peru. Wood carving has been passed down from father to son for generations and Franco has learned and worked the legendary Spanish skill since he was a young boy. Peru?s craftsmen hold the master key to creating these unique pieces of art. Franco is one of the most skilled artists and a master craftsman. Franco works with 22 artisans and Worldstock is one of their main sources of income. They use traditional methods & the only power tool they use is a polisher. Everything else is hand-crafted. Franco obtains wood from the forest area of Peru. No olive tree is damaged or destroyed in the wood harvesting process. It is gathered and sold to artisans when the trees are pruned and then used to create priceless works of art.
What is Worldstock?
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

I was very impressed with this cheese board. It is elegant looking, and the craftsmanship is beautiful. I used it right away for a party I was having, and received a lot of compliments. It is well worth the money!

Great looking wood cheese board! I foolishly used a sharp knife on it and scratched it though, so make sure to only use the wooden knife it came with on it!

The cheese board was smaller than I imagined and the accompanying knife would only serve to cut very soft cheese. The wood also had a veneer smell that I am afraid will pass to anything you put on it. It looks good on a wall but I do not know if it is very usable.
