Story Behind the Art:
Based in Mumbai, India, Asha Handicrafts, established in 1975, is a non-profit organization that works to promote Fair Trade and Fair Trade practices. Asha in Sanskrit means 'Hope,' and Asha has brought hope into what was largely a 'hopeless' situation by providing a marketing outlet for the craft of talented artisans. From the beginning, the mission of Asha has been the development of the artisan through various development projects designed to meet the needs and standards of overseas markets. This society's objective is to preserve the crafts of India, to market them abroad and to provide training in craft development. Today, Asha assists directly, and indirectly, over 103 producer groups and 5,000 artisans in India.

I have other hand carved giraffe's in various sizes, ranging 12" to 6'2" and this one is the very best of them all! I am very pleased with the attention given to its details. He is unique and lovely.This lil'guy is far more handsome in person. The camera angle doesn't actually do him justice. I have grown to really love the offerings from the Worldstock mechants.Thanks to O for handling them.
