Story Behind the Art:

Mango wood is indigenous to Northern Thailand, where Mr. Suwichack Ampanan and a small group of fellow artisans have been perfecting the craft of mango wood. Mr. Ampanan first learned the trade about 15 years ago from his father and now oversees a small group of five artisans. By employing other local artisans, Mr. Ampanan has allowed them to enjoy a better standard of living. All mango wood products from Mr. Ampanan's workshop are environmentally responsible. When the mango tree can no longer bear fruit after about 25-30 years, he and his artisans use these trees as a means of expressing their creative talents. He hopes you enjoy using his products as much as he enjoys making them.
