Lydia Dercksen and Rita Esterhuyzen met four years ago and formed African ArtEmporium. In the space of four years they run a small factory that employs 40 people. The company has created job opportunities in a poor community and provides training in the various skills required potter, painter, moulder, glazer, beader, packer, etc. The constantly growing and innovative range of ceramics produced by These Artisans is marketed and sold by galleries and shops in South Africa, England, United States of America, Australia, Switzerland, France, DRC, Namibia, Kenya, Ivory Coast and Angola.
