This factory is located in the Guangdong region of mainland China. The father is the main person in charge and employs many family members. Day to day operations are run by an aunt while the son is being groomed to take over once his father retires - all of this family greatly adds to the quality and productivity of this factory. Over 300 skilled and non-skilled craftsman work together, passing knowledge and craftsmanship from generation to generation. The working conditions of this group are excellent. While I felt the stool was a little smaller than i expected, it is really cute and unique and makes a nice accent piece for any room. Quality was good and very easy to assemble, even my husband liked it! It is rather unique with all the writing around each side, colors are nice. I order a lot from overstock and will continue to do so!
I would have sent this piece back had it not cost too much. .Color is very dull. It is also very uncomfortable to sit on. It was far too much money for what it is. I made a mistake! You can not score every time I guess.
I purchased this item for use as a vanity stool, and it's received several compliments from guests. From the online photo, the Chinese characters appear to be handpainted on a base of bare wood but are instead printed onto some sort of lacquered canvas. I could live with that were it not for the potent oily odor (something akin to hair grease) that i'm hoping will dissipate.
