"My name is Liem Hauw and I was born on August 31, 1969 in Java. I started to work in 1995 after graduating from the university. I worked at some residential projects and hotels. I began by opening an art workshop in Bali. I work with textiles made from natural materials such as fragrant root, sea grass, water hyacinth, and many others. Maybe God had planned this way of life for me. My works became recognized and I started to make my own curtains, blinds, floor mats, mosquito nets, cushions, table runners, etc. Now I also produce frames, vases, baskets, and lamps by weaving banana bark, sea grass, and others. I work in metal as well. I keep thinking about expanding my work by creating new designs."

I purchased these to go with a dark wood table accented with light natural fibers. This works in perfectly because it is dark with light stitching that looks like gold. The placemats are very fragrant, but in a good way. They smell like nature and the outdoors. They do give off a fair amount of dust so I find that I am cleaning my table more often than I have had to in the past. I dont mind though because they fit in so well with my decor! Great purchase!!
These are very attractive, they do have a strong fragrance, great for patio use.I ordered a second set.
I bought these mats because they looked very nice in the photo, and they have an aromatic smell like a previous comment stated. The only thing I don't like is that they flake and leave dust on the dining table. Other than having to clean around them everyday...I think it is a very nice placemat that fits my color scheme.

smells so good! hard to discribe, aromatic, floral, maybe a little musky. the weave is finer than i expected, nicer than i expected. i would buy them again.
