This Kilim design originates from Maimana, an area suspected to have been settled in Paleolithic times due to the numerous cave dwellings discovered there. For ages this remote area has been a trading center, significantly contributing to the business of the great silk routes. Kilims are known as'pileless' rugs; the design is also known as'slitweave.' These beautiful designs are achieved by interweaving the various colors of the vertical and horizontal strands of the rug. It can be used as a hanging piece or as a floor covering. Master Worldstock weavers in India have managed to replicate this pattern, using the same traditional techniques as their Iranian counterparts. This exceptional piece features rich tones in ivory, brick, green, brown, light green and grey.

Slight variation in the color, design and size in each piece is normal in handmade rugs. Due to the difference of monitor colors, some rug colors may vary slightly.
