Story Behind the Art:

Mahal rugs often favored bold, spacious floral patterns. Warps, foundation and wefts are cotton; the pile is wool. Rugs woven using asymmetrical knots tied one by one. Mahal rugs often have wide, bold borders; small, repeating florals and large-scale, lattice and vine patterns. As more merchants adopted similar systems, Mahal carpets grew to command the highest decorative value, which they hold to the present. Mahal area rugs have great value in any condition.
