'I come from a long lineage of carpet weavers. My ancestors have been in this field for centuries now. I remember how enthralled my siblings and I would be every time we saw varied colors merging into different weaves. I was taught by my father and older brothers, and at the time it was like a game. At first my designs were simple and now, as I've gained mastery, they are more intricate. It fills me with great pride to tell you that in 2002, I won a National Award for one of my hand-woven dhurrie rugs.'
