This set includes two plaques, each fashioned after a Ming dynasty style Chinese calligraphy wall plaque. The piece expresses wishes for good health, wealth and fortune. Each character is hand-carved, finished and mounted on a finely crafted plaque with a matte walnut finish. The plaque has two geometric brass hangers for easy mounting.
Story behind the product:
This factory is located in the Guangdong region of mainland China. The father is the main person in charge and employs many family members. Day to day operations are run by an aunt while the son is being groomed to take over once his father retires - all of this family greatly adds to the quality and productivity of this factory. Over 300 skilled and non-skilled craftsman work together, passing knowledge and craftsmanship from generation to generation. The working conditions of this group are excellent. The factory provides an excellent lunch each day for the staff. Attending strictly to the local and international anti-dumping and fair trade practice laws, Oriental Homes is proud to bring a piece of their culture into your home.

The plaques compliment an Asian-theme room. They spark a lot of conversation and are a good value for the money.

The plaques are stunning. However, they are colored nothing like the picture. The calligraphy is black mounted on an almost black plaque; none of the gold/greenish hue in the picture. I will not be able to use them for the room they were purchased for, but do intend to keep them and place them elsewhere since they are so attractive.
