The Story Behind the Art

Thailand's jewelry artisans work in a rich gem-trading environment with well-established traditions. In Chantaburi, there are thousands of 'mom-and-pop' factories with people working for hours in their polishing and finishing crafts. Here, talented Thai artisans have very rough, coal-fired 'backyard barbecue' ovens made out of inexpensive materials to process their gems and create beautiful jewelry pieces.
