Story Behind the Art

This wind chime is handcrafted on the island of Bali, Indonesia. In this tropical climate the bamboo grows quickly and profusely. The Balinese use bamboo in almost all aspects of their lives, including crafting musical instruments, gracing sacred ceremonies, and adorning and improving homes. Bamboo chimes were originally made to keep birds out of the rice paddies during the harvest season.
