Story Behind the Art:

The colorful fabrics are woven on handlooms in the Indian states which traditionally took to it during the years when Mahatma Gandhi encouraged Indians to do 'their own' weaving and to shun the 'better looking' British mill-made textiles' for the sake of self-sustainment. Fabrics are then embellished and made into the finished product by small cooperatives, or fabrication units, according to specifications.
