Story Behind the Art

Since they are hand-carved by artisans, each piece is uniquely beautiful and dimensions are approximate. Richly grained, reclaimed wood shapes our free-form extra large bowl. Each one-of-a-kind bowl is hand-carved from the gnarled stump of a Shan Mu Fir tree that was left behind by loggers in Central China. Fir wood is known for its rustic qualities, each bowl is cut so that the direction of the grain forms visible rings on the side of the bowl. Food-safe lacquer finish protects and magnifies the natural beauty of the wood.

The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
