Story behind the art: Mr. Velasquez started his job as a carpenter with his father in his own house. He has learned from his father how to work with wood and leather. In the 70's the furniture with carved leather was very famous. In the 80's Mr. Velasquez opened his own small factory and started with the export business, but still kept the leather furniture line. Since starting work with Overstock they have opened a new furniture line. The combination of glass and painting included in the furniture give us a very good result. After a year the factory was to small to attain all orders. So they found a new factory with a better location. Now working with 30 employees, they have their own oven for drying the wood. They are very happy that Overstock gave us the possibility to grow up and give him a better life quality.

This is quite a nice additon to our foyer. It is smaller than expected, but still looks and works great. There were a couple of knicks that seem to have appeared during shipping, but we decided it added to the character of the piece. Shipping was quite quick. Overall, a great buy.
The other reviews on this item are right. It is beautiful, the workmanship is excellent and the quality of the product is outstanding. The cushion could be covered with something a bit more durable, but I figure I can get the cushion redone, if it ever needs to be. You would find it hard to find a solid wood Bench like this that is hand made anywhere other than Overstock. Thanks Overstock.com!
I purchased this for my entry and am so happy with it. It is better then the photo. I actually thought the stain was a bit lighter then what it actually was, which was a good thing. It is a perfect dark brown stain to match the rest of the wood in my home. I priced wood benches of a lower quality and less style and none compared tho this. It is a great item at a great price!
I love this bench!!!! I have been looking for a hallway bench for amost a year now and all I could find is the typical bench with baskets or a mission-style bench. This one is so unique and beautiful - especially if you have a flair for international crafts and products. I don't know another person with something like it! The drawers are the perfect size to hold the slippers I keep on hand for guests. They just sit down to take off their shoes and grab a pair out of the drawer! It arrived in a few days, had no assembly required and was ready in minutes. I should mention that in the back corner the wood looks a little defective, but I've decided to chalk it up to hand crafted charm. No one will notice or care if I don't. I'm not thrilled with the canvas like fabric on the cushion, but good luck finding another cushion with the perfect color for your house. I think I'll do a little sewing. For now it's nice and neutral. All in all I am so pleased with the bench, the size - which doesn't take over my whole hallway, and the unique look. I would recommend it to anyone.
