Story behind the item:

Another quality exclusive creation by carver G. Phillip, a member of an in-house group of carvers. With the organization's financial support, Phillip has teamed up with his brother, George, to develop a line of boxes and other products that has generated a significant source of income to support their large immediate and extended family and send their children to school. They are adept at the use of color and chisel work to contrast their finishes.

I have purchased this 'hinged box' and once again this was another GREAT purchase. It is much larger that I thought, and that has made it all the better in my living room with the other hinged box I purchased. Because this box is much larger, I have put it on a small pedalstal so that the face is seen first. It looks simply beautiful. I do have my eyes on more art work from Ghana to purchase in the very near future. Thanks Overstock for my new found respect on African art !!!!

I ordered this piece for its uniqueness and I was very pleased with this product. I have a collection of african masks and this piece will be a wonderful addition to this collection. It is also a practical piece with storage for mail or other small items. I love it.
