Mango Wood and Reed Storage Bench (Thailand)

Well made and attractive. The rattan cover has flaws, but they are the natural texture of the material. The oiled wood smells strong initially, but wears off fairly quickly. Best part, no assembly required!

I got a fantastic deal on this amazing little bench! I'm so pleased. Of course it makes noises when you sit on it...it has woven reed on the top! And of course it has a smell at first.....it's REAL wood...not something you see much in furniture anymore. Nothing was broken on mine when I got it.

I ordered this bench after I read all of the positive reviews. Unfortunatelly, I do not concur at all with them. The positive aspect is that I was dealing with O.com who has unsurpassed customer service. O.com representatives were very helpful in sending me a call tag delivered by UPS who picked up the bench being returned. It arrived with a smashed leg. My experience with O.com is very positive and the company is very ethical. I had no problems returning the bench and will check with my credit card company to see whether the credit has been posted. I am sure it will be. I personally found this item to have very poor workmanship and would not have it in my house even if it were given to me for free. The products used to treat the soft mango wood have an overpowering bad odor. I am surprised at the positive reviews this item has received. The picture looks OK but the actual bench, in my opinion, looks cheap and rather unattractive. I have been very happy with two other items I ordered from O.com. Reps are very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

Although well constructed, meaning tight joints and sound workmanship, the bench is delicate as a bench goes. Beware to those who may actually want to sit on it. It strains and creaks if two young adults dare to sit. Also, note that the interior dimensions are far smaller than the exterior dimensions. I had planned to place a stereo receiver in the bench but the interior could not accommodate. Overall and attractive piece for those that will be easy on their furniture.
