Story Behind the Art
Born in a small tribal village in Ghana, West Africa to a family with 12 children, carver Akwasi Agyeman had limited opportunities. His family was so poor that he was limited to a 7th grade education so he could help his father on the farm to feed the family. He said at 7th grade his teacher asked each of them to make something for art class. He produced a fertility doll as his project and his teacher was amazed that he knew from that time he had a natural God-given talent.
When Agyeman started he lived in a small dirt one room shack. After ten years of doing business with him and with the help of Fair trade, he's now married with two handsome boys. He employs 15 people and has built a small, three bedroom house for his family.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.

The table I received looked nothing like the one in the picture. The intricate detail looked like it was done by a 1 year old child. The table was some kind of weird flaky wood with a horrible paint job. I'd be pretty embarassed to display this thing, even in a dirty house!
The table I received is not the one pictured! It is not that there are minor differences related craftsmanship, but rather the base is different all together and not as interesting as one pictured.
This is quite a disappointment . The paint job is TERRIBLE and does not look like it was actually hand-made.
