The Story Behind the Art

Mr. Suwichack Ampanan first learned the craft of carving mango wood 15 years ago from his father. He now oversees a group of five artisans and is actively involved in most every piece that leaves the workshop. By employing other local artisans, Mr. Ampanan has allowed them to enjoy a better standard of living than farming. All mango wood products from Mr. Ampanan's workshop are environmentally responsible, having been made from mango trees that can no longer bear fruit. He hopes you enjoy using his products as much as he enjoys making them.

I actually bought this to give as a gift but I was so thrilled with my purchase that I have decided to keep it for myself and buy others for gifts. It is a uniquely handsome shape but beyond that, it is extremely functional as I have used it for fruit, nuts, pasta salads, etc. It is very simple to take care of and I particularly love the stain which is totally food safe. I cannot tell you how many compliments I have received since I sometimes just display this bowl as a decorative piece. Again, I must commend Worldstock on finding unique, exciting items at very reasonable prices.
