Story behind the item:
Handmade jewelry by a group of women living in the outskirts of Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic. These women come together with the shared purpose of making a living with the aim of supporting their extended families. They are neighbors and relatives with expertise in jewelry making, painting and embroidery. They work within an informal economy and strongly believe in working together for the betterment of the group and the community. This translates into a sharing of the work available and of the earnings accrued.
