These items are made in a small studio in the North of Israel in a town called Tivon. The studio is owned by Avihu Zur- a master craftsman, painter, organic farmer, gourmet chef, and father of five. Avihu's studio employs many talented jewelers including Bedouin women who come from nearby Arab villages. Avihu sells to fine galleries on four different continents. The silver used in this jewelry is 90-percent recycled and the 2,000 year old roman glass shards are also recycled. Due to the recent war in Israel the economy is depressed. I bought this pendant along with "Item#: 11078655" and really like this one (the teardrop). I love the color of the glass, the shape, and the fact that it's copper, not the usual silver or gold. (And of course the historical nature/uniqueness of it!) My pendant has a pretty purple stone on the bottom of it, as opposed to the light-colored stone shown in the picture above. The purple stone looks great with the rest of the piece. The pendant is indeed small and light, but not in any way chintzy-looking. The sole drawback of this pendant is the "chain" it came on - not really a chain, but a thin purple cord. The color of the cord was pretty, but had no clasp, which means that it has to be tied and untied each time one wears it. I immediately put the pendant on a different chain (a gold one, along with some other pendants) and it looks fine, although if I were wearing the teardrop pendant alone, a copper chain would look better. At any rate, if you do buy this product, I'd almost count on finding something else to hang it on. A nice piece, though, and I am very happy with it.
Good design/workmanship. Smaller than I desired. I appreciate the antiquity of the piece. And had received positive feedback upon wearing. Would recommend for persons who appreciate unique jewelery.
