Story Behind the Art:

Neelam was pregnant and selling vegetables along the side of a road with her husband in a struggle to make ends meet. A friend walked by and told her about a fair trade organization, and that she should come with them to meet the group and learn how to make jewelry. After three months, Neelam and her husband moved a short distance to the beading village outside of New Delhi, India and she began earning a fair wage working flexible hours. Now, five years later, the group has provided funding for her son and daughter's education as well as stability and hope.
