    Artisan story:

Luis Mendes was born in Sao Paulo in 1957. He started his studies in the Waldorf German School, where he developed techniques in oil, watercolor, batik, sculpture, xylography, serigraphy, mosaic, and gold smithing. He has obtained national and international acknowledgement, being considered one of the best artists in the batik wax technique; this later being the one that best transmits the variation of color developed by Luis. Through the art of Batik, he expresses his feelings in vibrant and warm colors bringing life to his themes that illustrate the everyday life, folklore and roots of the Brazilian culture. His art reflects the Brazilian folklore and culture. Therefore his presence is even more required in exhibitions and workshops in Brazil and abroad.
