    Story Behind the Art:

In 1980 Guena left behind a career as an accountant and dove into the artistic universe. 'I began as an artisan's assistant and a sculptor, and gradually I became fascinated with gems and crystals,' Guena said. 'Soon after, I was exhibiting my work at local art fairs and markets. Now I can tell you I could never go back to a technical or bureaucratic job. I have more patience for art than for logic. Nowadays I travel throughout Brazil in search of crystals from Bahia, emeralds from Minas Gerais, agates from Rio Grande do Sul, and many other naturally occurring wonders. I continuously learn new techniques and craft different products. To me, Novica means an excellent opportunity for people to get to know the extraordinary work people all over the world are capable of making. It is an excellent way for an artisan to exhibit his work without the confinement of borders.

Slightly Disappointing

jbears22 from Iowa, Jun 17, 2009

I bought this as a gift for my mom for her birthday. I was shocked when it arrived in such a tiny box, but I didn't want to open it because they send it wrapped up. I told her to be careful opening it because I had read other reviews where this was a problem. Sure enough, she was careful, but we managed to break one of the star's points in the process of opening it up.While it is beautiful, the sound is kind of irritating, but it isn't really something you would hang up to catch the breeze. My mom liked it and we agreed it was more of an "oooh pretty" rather than "oooh practical."I would recommend seeing this product before you purchase it online.

standout performance

grimag from Michigan, Apr 30, 2009

When I unpacked my chimes they hit one another and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound they made. I have others but these are charmers and chime much differently because of the weight and consistency. Product is well made and beautiful. Only thing I suggest is careful when unpackin so strings dont get crossed and tangled. Good job overstock.....

Labor Intensive and Not that Stunning

mirabar from Fort Worth, TX, Dec 31, 2008

Due to how it shipped, I had to spend over an hour untangling the lines that hold the various pieces in place. And although the pieces look good with light shining directly through them (as in the photo), the finish is a dull matt under reflected light. Finally, the pieces are quite fragile -- obviously my fault for dropping it after the hour of untangling, but I'm not tempted to replace it.
